Austin Powers 4: Dr. Evil Prepares His Revenge
The revelation came during an interview on the Hollywood Insiders With Hawk Koch podcast
Mike Myers is working on the script for Austin Powers 4, and the new chapter of the saga seems destined to give much more space to Dr. Evil. The Canadian actor explained that, at least in its current development phase, the story is being built primarily from the perspective of the famous antagonist, whom he himself played in the trilogy.
The revelation came during an interview on the Hollywood Insiders With Hawk Koch podcast. Myers recounted that, when speaking with viewers, he found a substantial division in preferences: about half of the audience prefers Austin Powers, while the other half considers his enemy the funnier character.
When the Villain Could Immediately Steal the Show
In the early days of the saga, studio executives had curiously suggested reducing Dr. Evil's appearances, believing that his aggressive behavior towards the protagonist might make him unlikable. Myers disagreed, and audience reactions ended up confirming his intuition. After Austin Powers in Goldmember in 2002, the series remained dormant for over twenty years. As early as 2018, the actor had expressed a desire to make a film dedicated to his irresistible antagonist.
For now, no production details, including cast and release date, have been announced. The prospect of reversing the trilogy's point of view, however, represents a significant novelty for the return of the extravagant universe created by the actor who captured attention on the big screen thanks to his role as Wayne Campbell alongside Dana Carvey in Wayne's World in 1992.
