Alien: Earth and the Episode That Revolutionizes Xenomorphs
The deadly threat transforms into something different, says Noah Hawley
The series Alien: Earth is approaching its grand season finale, and the seventh episode, Emergence, has shocked fans with unexpected revelations. Not just gruesome deaths and plot twists, but above all, a radical shift in how we understand the legendary aliens.
At the center is Wendy (aka Marcie), who has shown an ability never before seen in the franchise: being able to control an alien creature. From her birth, linked to the removal of her brother Joe's lung, the bond between the two and the xenomorph had remained mysterious. But now the truth explodes: the monster not only avoids attacking them but openly defends them, even going so far as to exterminate an entire platoon of Yutani soldiers and respond to Wendy's orders during an ambush.
Communication Does Not Imply Friendship
An "obedient xenomorph"? For many fans, it seems like heresy, especially after the controversial and debated attempt at training seen in Alien: Resurrection. However, the series creator, Noah Hawley, clarified his vision in an interview: "I don't want her to have an alien as a pet. But if it seems like an alliance has been forged, what interesting possibilities can we explore? As this is a horror story, I wouldn't bet on it ending well."
Hawley also emphasized the difference between cinema and TV series: in a film, the monster sustains two hours of hunting, while in a series, its presence needs to be reinvented, alternating classic terror with new narrative dynamics.
