March 23, 2026 – A, B, C. These are the first letters of the alphabet, but also the famous 1930s English railway guide, as well as the signature of a ruthless and methodical killer whose letters reveal where and when he will strike. Between Andover, Bexhill-on-Sea, and Churston, the investigation unfolds, starring the eccentric and sharp Hercule Poirot in Agatha Christie's celebrated novel, which today receives a new adaptation by Audible, an Amazon company leading in the production and distribution of quality audio entertainment (audiobooks, podcasts, and audio series). The new Audible Original audio series The ABC Murders is now available on Audible.it.
Claudio Santamaria returns to the role of the Belgian investigator – not French, as he insists – of extraordinary genius. After the success of the Audible Original audio series The Mysterious Affair at Styles, this time too, Alberto Boubakar Malanchino plays Captain Arthur Hastings, the man of honor whose naive and sincere gaze balances the brilliant acuity of the investigator with the iconic mustache and egg-shaped head.
Transporting the listener into the tense and mysterious atmosphere of early 20th-century England are well-known voices from audio entertainment, for a cast of over 30 actresses and actors: Alessandro Tiberi (as Alexander Cust); Andrea Mete (Inspector Crome); Jane Alexander (Lady Clarke); Alessandro Campaiola (Donald Fraser); Giulia Luzi (Megan Barnard); Valentina Mari (Thora Grey); Martina Felli (Mary Drower); Federica Mete (Lily Marbury); Federico Viola (Tom Hartigan); Margherita Tiesi (Millie Higley).
In the London fog of 1935, the famous Hercule Poirot receives an anonymous letter signed A.B.C., announcing a crime in the town of Andover. Scotland Yard is warned, and all that remains is to await the indicated date. The call arrives punctually, announcing the discovery of the lifeless body of Alice Ascher, an elderly tobacconist. A month later, the second letter announces the murder of young maid Betty Barnard, in Bexhill-on-Sea. And again, the pattern repeats. This time the victim is Sir Carmichael Clarke of Churston. The A.B.C. Railway Guide is the only unsettling clue found at the crime scenes, and everything points to an obsessive and methodical killer, acting according to an alphabetical pattern and continuing to challenge Poirot by announcing his next murder. Alongside Poirot, Captain Arthur Hastings and a group of relatives and friends of the victims join the search for the truth. With his infallible intuition and characteristic elegance, the Belgian detective navigates through suspicions and deceptions, ready to unmask the killer before the next letter arrives.
“Thanks to Audible, I return to the role of a cunning, meticulous, precise, but also kind and friendly character. A character guided by logic and strategy. His strength, as well as that of the story, is precisely the attention to detail. As the story unfolds, the listener is disoriented, pieces seem to be missing, which Poirot will then accurately reconstruct in the final moments, at the highest point of tension.” – declares Claudio Santamaria.
“I have a special relationship with this character, and not just because it’s the second time I’ve played him. Hastings is an honest, sincere, spontaneous person, who carries the weight of the Great War but gets carried away by the investigations, together with his long-time friend.” – adds Alberto Boubakar Malanchino.
The ABC Murders, the result of collaboration with Agatha Christie Limited, transports the listener to the heart of the mystery thanks to a totally immersive audio experience, made possible by Dolby Atmos® technology and the refined sound design signed by the multi-award-winning John Wakefield and Andy Goddard. The Audible Original audio series is produced by Claire Broughton, while the audio adaptation is by Anna Lea. The Italian version is translated by Valeria Marcheggiani and Roberto Malini, with Italian dubbing direction by Marco Mete. The voices of the protagonists are enriched by an original soundtrack composed by British actor and musician Johnny Flynn, in collaboration with cellist and composer Joe Zeitlin.
