Hi everyone,
I’m writing this to provide some much-needed clarity, following the
many messages I’ve received from you all. As most of you know,
_Remothered_ is not just a "common" game to me: it is a piece of my
heart, a project that began when I was 17 (almost 20 years ago), an IP
I’ve nurtured from its very first sketches, from the Red Nun herself,
Rosemary Reed, the Ashmanns, the Feltons, Celeste + Linn, the settings
such as the Cristo Morente, the lore, the core of the IP itself to the
international success of _Remothered: Tormented Fathers_.
I recently became aware of a third installment intended to close the
original trilogy – which name is _Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy_. I
want to officially confirm that I am not involved in this production.
This was a difficult decision made back already in 2020 during the 2nd
_Remothered_ production, at a time when, unfortunately, I was left with
no other viable options. This allowed me to finally dedicate myself
again to new projects in which I could truly and freely express myself,
including the recent _Bye Sweet Carole_. That said, like a parent
watching their child find their own path, even though we have taken
different directions, I sincerely wish the best for this game, the
franchise and the team behind it.
However, there is a critical issue I must address. While there is much
talk about honoring the "Red Nun’s Legacy," the actual creator of that
legacy seems to have been forgotten. To date, my role as the author and
IP creator has been entirely omitted from the reveal trailer, its
credits, and official press release content – contravening what was
agreed. This deliberate "erasure" of my name does more than just
disregard the moral rights and the creative authorship; it feels like an
attempt to distance the current production from the technical
shortcomings of _Remothered: Broken Porcelain_ by implicitly shifting
that responsibility onto someone else —especially given the lack of
transparency surrounding this new chapter announcement.
Because of this, I have instructed my legal team to take the necessary
steps. Defending the authorship of a work is not just a matter of
principle; it is a sign of respect for the creative process, for all the
artists and authors out there, and for all of you who have supported me
and this story from day one.
With Love,
Chris Darril (Author of Remothered Series)
