ATI svela la tecnologia del GameCube

ATI rivela la tecnologia grafica del GameCube di Nintendo. In questo comunicato ufficiale del sito ATI vediamo cosa è stato detto alla presentazione del GameCube all'E3.

'LOS ANGELES, California –
ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ: ATYT), a world leader in the supply of graphics, video and multimedia solutions, in conjunction with Nintendo of America Inc., today offered a preview of the graphics technology that will power the eagerly anticipated NINTENDO GAMECUBE™ video game console. The technology was unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, California.

ATI demonstrated the NINTENDO GAMECUBE graphics technology as a partner in the Nintendo booth at E3 (West Hall, Los Angeles Convention Center). Nintendo exhibited the upcoming NINTENDO GAMECUBE and several launch titles before a highly receptive audience of thousands of show attendees. The NINTENDO GAMECUBE will be available in Japan in September 2001 and in North America in November 2001.

“ATI's custom graphics chip technology has been essential in the development of the NINTENDO GAMECUBE, ensuring its emergence as the world's most powerful next-generation video game console,” said Genyo Takeda, Corporate Director and General Manager of Integrated Research and Development, Nintendo of Japan. “ATI's industry-leading system and multimedia technology will offer NINTENDO GAMECUBE consumers a new, unmatched level of graphics realism and interaction.”

NINTENDO GAMECUBE features a revolutionary graphics processor, called the ';Flipper' chip, from ATI. This highly integrated processor includes both a 2D and 3D graphics engine, a DSP for audio processing, all system I/O functions including CPU, system memory, joystick, optical disk, flash card, modem and video interfaces, and an on-chip high bandwidth frame buffer.

In breve ATI ha realizzato il processore grafico del GameCube, una GPU con delle caratteristiche uniche e rivoluzionarie. Il processore è chiamato Flipper e al suo interno include sia la tecnologia 3D che 2D,un DPS per l'audio, tutte le funzioni I/O (input e output), memoria di sistema e tanto altro.
