Epomaker HE75 V2 is a comfortable, precise, and versatile keyboard

Regardless of your profession, we constantly switch between devices at home: the phone always in hand, the tablet in the background while cooking, the laptop now a portable TV around the house. If your job involves writing, it's even worse. And if you have to do it in the summer, it's a continuous search for a more comfortable, more shaded, more open-air, cooler, more ventilated, closer-to-the-bar position. In these situations, a portable keyboard, easily paired with the device of the moment, can prove to be a much more useful accessory than anticipated. 

In recent days, we had the opportunity to try an Epomaker HE75 V2 and were positively surprised. Epomaker is a Chinese manufacturer that has recently gained attention in the sector for high-performance products characterized by an original and playful style. The 75 in the keyboard's name refers to a 75% reduction compared to a standard keyboard: the numeric keypad is sacrificed, which betrays its gaming product nature, although as we will see shortly, it can also prove convenient for productivity (unless you work on Excel spreadsheets full of numbers). 

The versatility of Epomaker HE75 V2

Let's start with the measurements: 32.4 cm in length, 13.2 cm in width, and 4.3 cm in thickness. The weight is roughly around 1 kg. The 80 keys of the Epomaker HE75 V2 are thus contained in a compact, space-saving, and solid keyboard. The sense of solidity is immediately felt, even when handling it, and once placed, the four large rubber feet on the bottom ensure almost absolute stability on any surface. This is an important feature because, by its nature, the Epomaker HE75 V2 lends itself to being used in multiple contexts, even within the same day.  

There are indeed three connection modes for the Epomaker keyboard: wired via USB-C cable, Bluetooth, or 2.4 GHz wireless, essentially with any device in circulation (Windows PC, Mac, iOS or Android mobile devices). Thanks to its versatility, it unexpectedly proved to be an excellent travel keyboard. Of course, the weight is a factor, but the ease with which it can be connected instantly to any device at hand, combined with its almost absolute stability once placed, makes it extremely convenient for working on the go from a PC, a tablet, or any device, even controlling the volume with a physical knob positioned in the upper right corner. And the model we were able to use during this period, black with RGB backlighting filtering through the semi-transparent key structure, also looks quite good aesthetically. And the mechanical sound always provides a lot of satisfaction. But above all, the tactile sensation in contact with the keys is very good (and adjustable, as we will see shortly): the main limitation is the temporary absence of the Italian layout, which should still arrive, but if you have good muscle memory, you'll manage anyway. 

Gaming requires touch

The main strength of the Epomaker HE75 V2 are the Hall Effect magnetic switches, which is the technology that allows detecting the pressure exerted on the keys. Through software available online, the keyboard is easily configurable, not only regarding the sensitivity of key pressure but also through the programming of multi-actions for keys and Hot Swap. 

All this translates into two advantages. The first is the ability to adjust the keyboard's operation, tailoring it to your habits: it seems trivial, but eliminating almost every aspect of friction or annoyance from a tool used daily and for hours can truly improve your day. The second, reserved for those seeking high performance in gaming, is faster input and thus a potential improvement in game performance. Considering the price, everywhere under €100, the Epomaker HE75 V2 proved to be a comfortable, versatile, high-performance keyboard that can be used in the most varied situations.
