Monolith's JRPG returns with improvements: let's take a look
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was released in 2017 on the Nintendo Switch console. This JRPG is the third installment in the saga that began in the Nintendo Wii era and is set in a world where the remnants of human civilization live on gigantic creatures called Titans. If you missed it back then, or if you loved it and would like to replay it in an improved version, you'll soon be able to do so on Nintendo Switch 2.
Improvements in the Switch 2 Version
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will offer improved technical performance, with a frame rate of 60 FPS and a resolution of 4K on TV and 1080p in handheld mode, even for cutscenes. Among the new content, there are new costumes for the characters Pyra and Mythra, but most notably, the new Mercenary Assault mode. In this mode, you can deploy up to six Blades, which you can control directly on the battlefield. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will introduce a new rare Blade called Momo: if you're familiar with Xenosaga, it will certainly remind you of something.
When Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Releases and How Much It Costs
The wait for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is almost over: it will be released on July 30, 2026, as a digital edition, priced at €69.99. If you prefer the physical cartridge edition, you'll have to wait until October 1st. Those who own the game on Nintendo Switch 1 can access the new version by purchasing the Upgrade Pack for €9.99.
