Warhammer 40,000 Prepares Its Next Assault on Prime Video
Deathwatch enters the scene, an elite Space Marine corps specializing in missions against xeno threats
Amazon MGM Studios seems to have much more ambitious intentions than expected for Warhammer 40,000. Alongside the live-action series already in development, the streaming giant has greenlit an additional production set in the same narrative universe, a sign of a strategy that aims to transform the Games Workshop brand into a stable presence on Prime Video.
The new project will be an animated series dedicated to the Deathwatch, the elite Space Marine corps specializing in missions against xeno threats. The production comes after the enthusiasm generated by the Warhammer 40,000-inspired episode included in the Secret Level anthology, which was positively received by both the public and long-time fans.
An Announcement That Changes Perspective
The work will again be led by Dave Wilson, who was behind that episode, and John Orloff (Band of Brothers). Henry Cavill, meanwhile, will continue to follow the franchise as an executive producer alongside Natalie Viscuso, while the live-action series continues its parallel development.
For both productions, a debut window has not yet been announced, but Amazon seems intent on making Warhammer 40,000 one of the pillars of its fantasy and sci-fi offerings.
