Vampirium: 1997 - The Announcement and Gameplay Trailer
Become a vampire assassin in Dracula's service
The British studio Bithell Games, known for titles such as John Wick Hex and Tron: Catalyst, has announced its next video game, called Vampirium: 1997. This title is described as an "immersive sim" set in late 20th century England, where Dracula sits on the throne. The player will take on the role of a vampire under the sovereign's command, tasked with eliminating his enemies.
Mike Bithell, the game's creator, comments on the trailer that illustrates how Vampirium: 1997 plays out. The gameplay takes on the characteristics of a text adventure, with a minimal interface that contains essential information: the map of the building being infiltrated (which will be one of the first visited in the game), a list of interactable objects, and any people present.
The player will have a series of options to choose from: to solve missions, different approaches can be adopted, which should lead to different outcomes. Each action taken will consume a certain amount of time, and this is a fundamental mechanic of Vampirium: 1997. In certain situations, it will be essential to act with precise, second-accurate timing, for example, when intending to dodge an enemy's attack.
When and Where Vampirium: 1997 Will Be Released
Vampirium: 1997 will be released on PC via Steam, in an early access version: as development progresses, Bithell Games will add new missions, with locations to visit and characters to meet. For now, the launch window period has not been specified.
