A game that can count on a cult IP, that possesses a fascinating setting like a fantasy world with vampires, whose developer has done a job deemed satisfactory: but then, what went wrong? The question obviously concerns Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 and the publisher Paradox Interactive's answer is to do some soul-searching.

Paradox Miscalculated

Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive, in a statement announces that sales for Bloodlines 2's first month have gone below expectations and that the company is therefore forced to revise down some estimates related to the asset. According to Wester, the responsibility for what happened lies entirely with the publisher: the game falls outside what Paradox considers its main area of business, which made it difficult to correctly predict sales.

Bloodlines 2 Expansions Are Not in Danger

If you want our opinion, Bloodlines performed poorly for reasons beyond Paradox's responsibility, and we explain them to you in our review. However, Wester continues that Paradox will focus on this main area and evaluate what to do with the World of Darkness franchise in the future. Nevertheless, even if it's not selling as expected, support for Bloodlines 2 is not in question, at least concerning the two announced expansions, which will be regularly released in 2026.
