Valve Index Discontinued and Sold at a Discount
The old virtual reality set must make way for the new
Valve's hardware lineup recently welcomed Steam Frame, the new VR headset that promises top performance (with a price that's also... at the top). You can find more details about it in this article; however, the advent of the new virtual reality set has made Valve Index redundant, the predecessor that was released on the market in June 2019, a few months before the release of Half-Life Alyx.
Valve Index is Dead, Long Live Valve Index
Valve has announced that production of Valve Index has been definitively discontinued. For all those who already own it, little changes, because the hardware will continue to be supported. If anyone is still interested, they can purchase it at a discount: on the official website Valve Index is now sold for €431.20, -20% off the list price. The controllers and the replacement cable are also on offer at the same discount, while supplies last.
