Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Rewrites Lara Croft's Moves
The heroine behaves quite differently compared to 30 years ago
Almost 30 years have passed since the very first Tomb Raider: the first chapter of the saga landed on the market in October 1996. The game's author is the English studio Core Design, which took about 18 months to develop a title that would have a profound impact on subsequent action-adventure games. This experience is reimagined in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a modern version made in Unreal Engine 5.
Lara's got the moves
Compared to 1996, however, many things have changed, Lara first and foremost is no longer the same. In a new video, developers Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog explain how they recreated Lara's movements, using those from the 1996 game as a base, and how they adapted them to contemporary control systems. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set for February 12, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam).
