The future of the other Dark Knight on the big screen is becoming clearer. With filming for The Batman Part II scheduled for spring 2026, director Matt Reeves has finally clarified a question that has long troubled fans: the universe led by Robert Pattinson will remain independent from James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DCU.

In a recent interview, Reeves explained that his goal is to complete the story begun in 2022, without forced deviations or crossovers. The Batman officially falls under the Elseworlds label, a narrative space that allows for the development of alternative storylines outside of central DC continuity, but still under the brand's umbrella.

Space for Alternative Creativity

This choice means that Pattinson's Batman will not share the screen with the new DCU heroes, from Superman to Supergirl. This approach prioritizes the stylistic coherence of Reeves' dark and realistic Gotham, focused on Bruce Wayne's psychology.

In parallel, Gunn and Safran will move forward with The Brave and the Bold, which will introduce another Batman, this time linked to the young Damian Wayne. Thus, for the first time, audiences will have 2 versions of the Dark Knight simultaneously: on one side, Reeves' intimate noir, and on the other, the DCU's family epic.

A coexistence that, far from being a problem, promises to further enrich the myth of Batman by offering complementary visions of one of the most iconic characters in comics and cinema.
