The 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival yesterday hosted the world premiere of Swiped, the film that tells the rise of Whitney Wolfe, the visionary founder of Bumble.

On the red carpet were stars Lily James, Jackson White, Ben Schnetzer, and Myha'la, along with director and screenwriter Rachel Lee Goldenberg, producers Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay, and executive producer Gala Gordon.

True Story of a Determined Entrepreneur

To celebrate the premiere, a new trailer and a new official poster were released. In Italy, the film will debut on September 19 on Disney+.

Inspired by a true story, Swiped follows the journey of recent graduate Whitney Wolfe (played by Lily James), who with determination and ingenuity manages to make her way in a male-dominated world: online dating apps.

From the creation of an initial platform to the launch of Bumble, her innovative vision laid the groundwork for a revolution in the tech sector, leading her to become the youngest self-made female billionaire in the world.

Alongside Lily James is an ensemble cast that includes Jackson White, Myha'la, Ben Schnetzer, Pierson Fodé, Clea DuVall, Pedro Correa, Ian Colleti, Coral Peña, and Dan Stevens. The screenplay is penned by Bill Parker, Rachel Lee Goldenberg, and Kim Caramele. With a mix of biopic and contemporary drama, Swiped promises to combine entertainment and reflection on the power of technology and female empowerment.
