The first teaser trailer for the new live-action Street Fighter has been released, presented during the Game Awards 2025, decisively banking on the nostalgia of long-time fans of the celebrated Capcom saga. Produced by Legendary in collaboration with Capcom and distributed by Paramount Pictures, the film will arrive in cinemas between October 14 and 16, 2026.

The story is set in 1993, at the height of the video game's global explosion. At the center of the narrative are Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo), estranged fighters who are reunited by the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) to participate in the World Warrior Tournament. Behind the competition, however, lies a deadly conspiracy that will force them to confront not only each other but also their own past. The main antagonist M. Bison is played by David Dastmalchian.

A desire to return to its origins

The cast is one of the most discussed elements of the project, thanks to a selection that brings together actors, musicians, and real fighters. Cody Rhodes is Guile, 50 Cent plays Balrog, and Orville Peck takes on the role of Vega. Also prominent are Roman Reigns as Akuma and Alexander Volkanovski as Joe. Other iconic characters include Jason Momoa (Blanka), Vidyut Jammwal (Dhalsim), and Oliver Richters (Zangief).

The direction is entrusted to Kitao Sakurai with a screenplay by Dalan Musson. The stated goal is to bring Street Fighter back to its origins, combining authentic physical action, personal rivalries, and a strong nod to the golden age of the saga.
