Stranger than Heaven: Release Date and Combat
The game's violent street brawls rage in the new trailer
Publisher Sega and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have shared a new trailer for Stranger than Heaven, showcasing its combat system. Compared to its "cousin" Yakuza, here we find more visceral clashes, where stabbing one's enemy and spilling their blood is not disdained. Judging by what is shown, executing parries or dodges with the right timing will be a very important and recurring factor in the combat system.
Stranger than Heaven's approach to combat will therefore be geared towards greater realism... but only up to a certain point. Stabbings and bleeding have a strong scenic impact, but do not seem to have appreciable consequences on enemies, who barely notice them. The violence is therefore very "visual"; hits only serve to reduce the HP bar: essentially, behind the grim appearance, we find a damage system analogous to that of Yakuza.

The release date for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's new work is January 15, 2027. You will find Stranger than Heaven on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam, Xbox PC) platforms, as well as day one on the Game Pass service.
