After James Gunn's farewell to the Guardians of the Galaxy with Vol. 3, there seemed to be a future at least for Peter Quill. The film concluded with Star-Lord's return to Earth and a clear promise in the credits: "The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return". Since then, Marvel Studios has not yet confirmed anything official.

According to new rumors reported by insider James Mack, Chris Pratt will return as Star-Lord in two MCU projects scheduled for 2026: the series VisionQuest and the film Avengers: Doomsday. This rumor finds partial confirmation in concept art leaked in recent months, in which Peter Quill would appear as a roommate of White Vision, as well as alongside Wong and the Young Avengers.

Guardian with High Potential

In recent statements, Pratt reiterated his willingness to keep the promise made to fans: Star-Lord will return. The actor also joked about what Quill is doing on Earth, imagining him busy catching up on decades of music and living with the guilt related to the events of Infinity War.

It is currently unclear if Marvel is still considering a dedicated spin-off, hypothetically titled The Legendary Star-Lord, but everything suggests that Peter Quill will have a key role in the future of the MCU, perhaps even as a leader of a new generation of heroes.
