The boom of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in theaters has reignited the spotlight on a possible fifth chapter with Tom Holland as Peter Parker. Sony has not yet made anything official, but the words of the Studio's head suggest that the will to continue is very much there.

In a recent interview, the head of Sony Pictures compared the situation to that of a coach who, after winning the title, is immediately asked if they will repeat the success. To the direct question if a scenario for a new film with Holland concretely exists, the answer was a firm "yes," accompanied by the explicit hope that the actor wants to continue in the role.

A Critical Look at the Past

The executive also emphasized how the film's result unites audiences of different ages and cultures, a goal that, according to him, only cinema in theaters can still guarantee, despite the constant debate about the comparison with streaming.

There were also uncomfortable admissions: projects dedicated to secondary characters in Sony's Marvel universe have not convinced the public, and currently no spin-offs are in active development. Above all, it emerges that the Studio's future strategy will revolve around Holland's Peter Parker, setting aside ambitions for a broader shared universe.
