Return to Silent Hill - The Christophe Gans Film Poster
Behind the camera is the same director who helmed works like "Crying Freeman" and "Brotherhood of the Wolf"
Cineverse has unveiled the new official poster for Return to Silent Hill, a film that marks the return of Christophe Gans (Crying Freeman, Brotherhood of the Wolf) to directing the celebrated horror franchise inspired by Konami video games.
A direct adaptation of Silent Hill 2, considered one of the most influential survival horror games of all time, the film will arrive in Italian cinemas on January 22, 2026. The official trailer was previously released, confirming a strongly psychological and disturbing approach.
A rather unpromising fog...
Gans explained how the project stems from the evolution of the horror genre in recent years: a cinema less tied to immediate shock and more interested in perception, the mind, and emotional ambiguity. Precisely for this reason, according to the director, now is the right time to bring Silent Hill 2 to the big screen in a faithful and mature way.
The story follows James, played by Jeremy Irvine, who receives a mysterious letter from his beloved Mary, believed to be dead. A journey that leads him to Silent Hill, a city now devoured by darkness, where he will confront monstrous creatures and a truth capable of shattering his sanity. Hannah Emily Anderson plays Mary Crane.
The screenplay is written by Christophe Gans himself alongside Sandra Vo-Anh and William Josef Schneider. With Return to Silent Hill, the saga prepares to return to its origins, focusing on atmosphere, trauma, and psychological horror.
