Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics during Opening Night Live, a new single-player turn-based tactical title set in the Rainbow Six universe, coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Ubisoft Connect, Steam, Epic Games Store), Ubisoft+, GeForce Now, and Blacknut (a recent cloud gaming service).

Developed by Ubisoft Paris, the game runs parallel to the Rainbow Six Siege timeline: for the first time, players step into the shoes of Six, commander of the Rainbow Team, managing the unit from a strategic headquarters (intelligence analysis, operator assignment, base upgrades) before deploying with squads of up to four operators in turn-based tactical engagements.

Gameplay thus alternates between strategic command and operational execution, drawing from a roster of 15 Siege operators, each with their own abilities, gadgets, and skill trees. The campaign offers dozens of missions in diverse locations (hostage rescues, bomb defusals, target eliminations), with destructible environments and the new Breach mechanic: a synchronized assault that breaks the classic turn, allowing the entire squad to act simultaneously during the breach.

The first images and videos highlighted an approach very similar to what has been seen in the latest iterations of historical series like X-COM and other tacticians of the same type, but the settings and charm of the Rainbow team are an authentic hallmark capable of characterizing the entire production. On Steam, the game is listed for a generic 2027, so we'll have to wait (and wishlist it).
