Pillars of Eternity Adopts Turn-Based Combat
Big news for Obsidian's RPG
Pillars of Eternity was originally released in March 2015, and despite 11 years having passed, its developer, the American studio Obsidian Entertainment, continues to support it with updates, and these are not minor changes. One of the main elements of the RPG, the combat system, has been completely revised, introducing the option to face battles with a new turn-based system, instead of the usual real-time one.
Pillars of Eternity Turn-Based, But Only on PC
The turn-based combat system was launched in beta last November and as of yesterday, it is available in its final version. Players can switch from turn-based to real-time at any time. To adopt a turn-based system, some modifications were necessary, which we delve into in this article. Unfortunately, the new feature is available only on PC: the console editions are not directly managed by Obsidian, which therefore does not have the authority to update them. You can find more details on turn-based combat in this post on Steam.
