Onimusha is a Success: Capcom Will Revive Other IPs
The Japanese company confirms its intention to bring back forgotten series
Last Friday, after a 20-year wait, the Onimusha series finally returned to screens: Capcom resurrected a franchise not seen since the PlayStation 2 era, crafting a modern sequel that is also respectful of its predecessors. Onimusha: Way of the Sword Sales
In an official statement, Capcom announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword sales had already exceeded one million copies on launch day. Thanks to this result, the franchise has now reached 10 million total units, but Way of the Sword still has a long way to go, and this number will be adjusted upwards. However, the most interesting piece of information from the statement is another.
The Return of Capcom's Old Glories
Alongside the Onimusha sales data, Capcom confirmed its intention to reactivate its IPs that have not received a recent title, a goal that had been announced in 2024. In other words, the company will draw on other series from its past to create new games.
