No Man's Sky Becomes Pokémon with Xeno Arena Update
Gotta catch 'em all, but in space
Today, April 8th, Pokémon arrived on Nintendo Switch and on… No Man's Sky. By a curious coincidence, the same day saw both the launch of Pokémon Champions and the release of patch 6.3 for No Man's Sky, called Xeno Arena, an update that introduces a particular side activity into the space game: catching monsters, raising them, and using them in turn-based battles.
No Man's Sky Plays Pokémon for Real
Don't think that the new gameplay experience introduced with Xeno Arena is something cobbled together: developer Hello Games has implemented a mode where each creature species has unique combat moves and each specimen possesses stats that depend on individual parameters, all framed within a system with eight elemental affinities and hundreds of abilities to use in battle.
Players will therefore have to catch various creatures on planets and use them to form teams to deploy in turn-based battles. To obtain the perfect combat specimen, it will be possible to genetically modify and control the reproduction of creatures, so that they develop traits more suited to battle. Obviously, the new mode can also be used for multiplayer challenges; furthermore, there are daily challenges, missions, and medals. For more details on Xeno Arena, consult the official website.
