Netflix is making headlines again with the first official trailer for Monster: The Ed Gein Story, the third season of its true crime anthology that has already captivated millions of viewers. This time, the narrative centers on Ed Gein, the infamous "Butcher of Plainfield," whose story inspired horror cinema masterpieces such as Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs.

The protagonist is Charlie Hunnam, known for Sons of Anarchy and films like The Gentlemen, who takes on a disturbing and complex role. In the trailer, we see 1950s Wisconsin transform into a nightmare of murders, grave desecrations, and macabre artifacts made from human remains.

One of the most insane serial killers of all time

Netflix's choice is not surprising: after the global phenomenon of Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (2022) and the controversial Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story (2023), the platform is relaunching by focusing on a figure who not only terrorized America but also left an indelible mark on the collective imagination of cinema and pop culture.

With a dark staging and an intense performance by Hunnam, the series promises to go beyond true crime, investigating not only the crimes but also how society transformed Gein into a dark legend. The debut is expected this year.
