Mickey Rourke's financial situation went viral after a video was published in which the actor clearly distanced himself from a GoFundMe campaign opened in his name to cover approximately $60,000 in back rent. The initiative has already exceeded $97,000 raised and was reportedly started by his long-time manager, but Rourke claims he did not understand its nature and implications.

In the video, the actor, a BAFTA winner for The Wrestler, appears visibly irritated and confused, stating that he never asked fans or strangers for money and calling the entire affair "humiliating." Rourke has explicitly requested that donations be returned, reiterating his desire to maintain his personal dignity despite the difficulties.

Manager Kimberly Hines clarified to The Hollywood Reporter that the actor, recently evicted from his home, is currently living in a hotel in West Hollywood. According to Hines, Rourke had given generic consent to the idea of receiving help, but without truly understanding how GoFundMe worked, nor the media attention it would generate.

Paradoxically, the public exposure of his financial problems seems to have reignited industry interest. Hines herself confirmed that Rourke has already received four new job offers, a sign of a possible professional comeback for the actor also known for his role as Whiplash in Iron Man 2. If Rourke decides to refuse the money, donations will be fully refunded.
