One week before its debut in stores, Retro Studios and Nintendo have announced the functionalities of the new Amiibo dedicated to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The information comes from Nintendo's official Japanese website, so it might be imprecise, but here's what we've learned about the three figures and the in-game bonuses they will unlock:
- Samus - Will allow you to listen to music while driving Vi-O-La in Sol Valley and once a day will grant a full recovery from damage taken and a temporary Energy Tank.
- Samus & Vi-O-La - Will allow you to change Vi-O-La's color, track the distance traveled between scans, and grant a boost to turbo regeneration.
- Sylux - Will unlock a special additional cutscene. It will still be possible to access it without the Amiibo, but you will need to obtain 100% of the items and scans.
All previous Amiibo from the Metroid saga will simply play a jingle from their original game. What do you think? Personally, it would have been nice to access some of these features in-game, perhaps as a reward for completing the game, but you never know. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will debut on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on December 4th.
