Marathon Shows Off the Recon, But Interest Is Declining
Is this a natural fluctuation for Bungie's extraction shooter, or cause for concern?
40 days after launch, how is Marathon doing? Bungie has actively supported its title, introducing content such as Ranked mode and the Cryo-Archive, but player interest seems to be declining: according to SteamDB data, on PC the extraction shooter attracted over 80,000 concurrent users around launch, but has now dropped below 30,000. The decline could just be a physiological variation, due to the novelty effect wearing off: it will take a little more time before drawing conclusions.
