Marathon Opens Cryo Archive Doors: Details
The new endgame area, aboard the spaceship, is accessible starting today
News arrives very quickly on Tau Ceti IV, the planet that serves as the setting for Marathon. Tomorrow, players will have their first contact with the Ranked Mode, but first there's something else to discover: today, March 20, a new endgame area is being launched, complete with a dedicated trailer that we're sharing with you below. This area is called Cryo Archive and is located aboard the UESC Marathon spaceship.
Details on the Cryo-Archive
Let's briefly recap the story: 300 years before the events of Marathon, the spaceship departed for Tau Ceti IV with 30,000 colonists on board. However, contact with Earth was lost, and since then no one has ever known what became of all those people. The Cryo Archive is the first deck of the spaceship and houses cryo-capsules, medical facilities, and storage areas.
This zone is made up of six interconnected wings, linked by a central bridge, with seven depots containing valuable loot. Of course, there are armed defense systems ready to make life very difficult for invaders… Returning to purely gameplay terms, Cryo Archive will be accessible only on weekends, like Ranked Mode: evidently, Bungie wants to ensure that the servers are crowded on weekends.
Cryo Archive is designed to offer a high level of challenge and must necessarily be tackled in multiplayer, with teams composed of 3 elements. To access it, it is necessary to meet certain requirements: having reached Runner level 25, having unlocked all six factions, and wearing equipment with a Gear Ante of at least 5,000.
