MADiSON - The Horror Video Game Becomes a Movie
A serial killer and a decades-long demonic ritual
MADiSON is the horror video game developed by Bloodious Games that will have a cinematic adaptation. The project will be handled by Story Kitchen, a US production company specializing in bringing video games to the big screen, already involved in the Sonic the Hedgehog film saga. The collaboration with the original developers was reported by Variety.
The story follows Luca Maxwell, a teenager who receives an instant camera for his sixteenth birthday. However, the object is linked to Madison, a serial killer, and a demonic ritual that began decades earlier. To uncover the truth, the protagonist must take photographs, solve puzzles, and confront increasingly threatening supernatural manifestations.
A Camera, a Demonic Ritual
The camera represents the heart of the horror experience and will be one of the most interesting elements to transfer to the screen. In fact, in the video game, each shot can reveal hidden details, but also expose Luca to new threats.
Founders Dmitri M. Johnson and Mike Goldberg aim to preserve the emotional impact of the original title, built through constant tension and the protagonist's vulnerability. The adaptation will have to recreate these sensations through cinematic language, hopefully without relying solely on jumpscares. The project is in its early stages of development.
