Korean MMORPG AION 2 to Release in the West in 2026
NC Soft invites us into another of its fantasy worlds
Do you remember AION? It was 2008 when the Korean software house NC Soft, building on the successes of Lineage and Guild Wars, released this fantasy MMORPG that competed with the absolute lord of the genre, World of Warcraft. In fact, NC Soft's title proved it could even surpass Blizzard's work in certain aspects, although the overall comparison seemed uneven: we delve deeper into the discussion in our AION review.
AION 2 Features
17 years later, in November 2025, the sequel AION 2 was released in Southeast Asia: developed in Unreal Engine 5, this new chapter offers a map 36 times larger than its predecessor. AION 2 is set in Atreia, a world contested by the civilizations of the Elyos and Asmodians. The main prerogative of the game will be aerial combat, considered not merely a feature, but the very reason for AION 2's existence.
As an MMORPG, you can imagine that certain aspects of the game have received great attention, starting with the character editor: NC Soft claims it is one of the most advanced ever seen, with over 200 customization options and an infinite array of assorted outfits/cosmetic elements. Obviously, in terms of multiplayer, there will be something for everyone, with raids in groups of up to 8 players, over 200 dungeons, seasonal challenges, events, mini-games, and much more.
AION 2 Arrives in the West
NC Soft has announced the global release of AION 2: the game will be available worldwide in 2026. You will find this MMORPG on PC, via the proprietary Purple client or via Steam. AION 2 will be a free-to-play title with microtransactions.
