Hitman: The Future of the Series for IO Interactive
Co-op and new chapters
Hitman is now a historic series: after its debut in the year 2000, the bald Agent 47 has faced multiple missions, but it has been a few years since a new IP. Although World of Assassination continues to receive updates, the last official chapter of the series is actually Hitman: Absolution - of which we remind you of the Review - which debuted in 2012 - although it only arrived on Nintendo Switch last month.
Currently, IO Interactive, the team developing the series, is busy with the creation of 007: First Light, whose release is set for next March; after that? Hakan Abrak, CEO of the team, was recently interviewed by Variety and in that context, he spoke about the future of Hitman and Agent 47.
"Of course, there will be more Hitman games - he declared - But for now, I think we'll have to get through this year, and next year you'll get new information about Hitman co-op, because I think co-op is a very, very good extension of the universe, and we'll introduce some very interesting mechanics and combinations in World of Assassination. But after that, we'll start talking about the next Hitman - because, of course, there will be a next Hitman."
First co-op in World of Assassination, then, and then the new chapter. When: we are not given to know. Not before 2027. Stay Tuned...
