Ghostbusters: Nightmare on 34th Street, new film in development
The reference to Miracle on 34th Street suggests a possible connection to the Christmas season
Ghostbusters: Nightmare on 34th Street is the title under which Sony is reportedly developing a new live-action film in the saga. Daniel Richtman reports that Josh Miller is already working on the screenplay. The project has not yet been officially announced by the Studio.
No information has emerged regarding the director, cast, plot, or release date. It is also unclear whether the film will continue the story of the new generation introduced in Ghostbusters: Afterlife or if it will feature a different setting and group of protagonists.
A Title That Evokes Christmas
The reference to Miracle on 34th Street seems to suggest a possible connection to the Christmas season, but there are currently no confirmations about the setting. The title could therefore just be a working title used during the project's development. Miller has previously worked on the screenplays for Sonic the Hedgehog and Violent Night, experiences that have seen him tackle both fantastic adventure and more irreverent comedy.
The new project would join other works that are expanding the Ghostbusters universe. Netflix is preparing Ghostbusters: Night Shift, an animated series scheduled for 2027 and set in the nineties, while Sony is also developing Ecto, an animated feature film still without a release date. For Ghostbusters: Nightmare on 34th Street, however, everything remains to be confirmed.
