Geppy-X, the PS1 shmup inspired by 70s anime, returns
Coming to PC and consoles in July
Implicit Conversions and Bliss Brain have announced 70s-style Robot Anime Geppy-X (or just Geppy-X if you prefer). This is the remaster of the horizontal scrolling shooter 70's Robot Anime Geppy-X, which was released only in Japan in 1999 on PS1 by Aroma. Distributed on 4 discs, the title offered, along with the game itself, an entire story inspired by the "super robot" anime genre typical of the 70s (Getter Robo, Mazinger, Grendizer...), narrated through more than 8000 frames of hand-drawn animation.
For this modern adaptation, the original in-game anime tapes have been digitized in high definition, the graphics upscaled for greater clarity on screen, and the animations restored to 24 frames per second. The voice actors and the team behind the soundtrack are the same as in the late 90s. Additionally, quality of life features such as quick save, rewind, CRT filters, and more will be available.
70s-style Robot Anime Geppy-X will debut on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X|S on July 16. Here's the announcement trailer.
