GAMDIAS THOR P2, new power supplies for gaming PCs
A recent precedent makes this debut particularly delicate for the company
GAMDIAS expands its range of power supplies with the THOR P2 series, intended for high-end gaming PCs as well as workstations. The new models come in 850, 1050, and 1350 Watt versions and focus on 80 PLUS Platinum certification, along with support for ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards.
The choice of name does not go unnoticed: THOR is already associated with ASUS's ROG line of power supplies, which has been on the market since 2018. There is also a recent precedent that makes this debut particularly delicate for GAMDIAS.
The new THOR starts with controversy
The THOR P2 series arrives without Cybenetics certification, following the controversy related to the HELIOS P2 power supplies. Cybenetics had accused GAMDIAS of having unauthorizedly used its certification badges on products that were neither certified nor present in the official database.
Technically, the new power supplies use 105 °C Japanese capacitors and adopt a platform with LLC and DC-to-DC conversion. Cooling is entrusted to a 135 mm FDB fan, which can remain completely still at low loads.
The 600 Watt 12V-2x6 connection is integrated directly into the power supply, while the fully modular cabling facilitates cable management. The declared warranty from GAMDIAS is up to 12 years.
