Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake - Launch Trailer
Tecmo's horror returns to our screens, once again
Koei Tecmo announces the release of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake: this video game is available starting today, March 12, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The release is accompanied by the launch trailer, which we've included below. Also known as Project Zero II, this horror title follows the story of two twin sisters who get lost in a haunted village.
The original Fatal Frame II was released on PlayStation 2 back in 2003: 23 years later, the remake obviously offers various improvements concerning graphics, sound, and controls. Character models have been refined and the village has been recreated with particular attention to lighting. 3D audio makes the experience even more immersive. Side stories and new areas have been added.
Our review calls this remake "a small, great masterpiece": although less technically impressive than other titles of the same genre, the new Fatal Frame II shows that there is still room for horror games that don't focus on spectacle and gore. A curiosity: this is the second remake of Fatal Frame II; there was previously another one for Wii.
