Don't Breathe 3 brings Jane Levy back alongside Stephen Lang
Don't Breathe 2 kept the blind killer at the center of the story but left Rocky out of it
Jane Levy will return to play Rocky in the third chapter of Don't Breathe, reuniting with Stephen Lang in the role of the blind ex-military killer. Dread Central reported the news, citing an announcement by Fede Álvarez, who confirmed he is working on the screenplay for the new film.
The news also concerns the direction: author of the first chapter in 2016, Álvarez will return behind the camera after leaving Don't Breathe 2 to Rodo Sayagues. This reunites the creative and artistic group linked to the film that originated the saga.
A direct link to the first film
The presence of Jane Levy brings back a character who was left out of the second chapter. At the end of the original film, Rocky managed to leave the Blind Man's house with the money needed to escape Detroit with her sister Diddy. Despite surviving the confrontation, the man did not provide the police with information about the girl.
Don't Breathe 2 instead followed a different story, keeping Stephen Lang at the center of the narrative and leaving Rocky out. The new film could therefore pick up a narrative thread left hanging from the first chapter, although at the moment no details have been revealed about the story or the circumstances that will bring the two characters to cross paths again.
Obviously, it's too early for a release date for Don't Breathe 3. The project is still in its initial stages, but the return of Álvarez, Levy, and Lang already establishes a direct connection to the origin of the story.
