Dispatch proved to be one of the most pleasant surprises of 2025: the "Telltale-style" narrative adventure captivated us with its maturity and awareness. It's no coincidence that in our review we called it a masterpiece. For a few days now, users of Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 also have access to this little gem, but their version of the game is different from the others.

Dispatch's censorship was not properly reported

That Dispatch would be censored on Nintendo consoles was already known for over a month, and now we have confirmation. However, early adopters on Switch may not have noticed it, because it was not clearly indicated enough: as reported by developer AdHoc in a message on Reddit, initially the censorship warning was not in the game's description, which made it less visible.

Now that warning has been correctly inserted into the description, as you can see from Dispatch's eShop page. The developer apologized for the oversight, taking responsibility for what happened. The long message written by the studio, in addition to apologizing, also served to generally discuss the issue of censorship on Nintendo consoles.

Nintendo and censorship: a double standard

Why is Dispatch censored on Switch? Because some of its content does not comply with Nintendo's guidelines. A simple answer, but one that is not enough to close the matter: AdHoc itself notes that some titles, such as The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, were allowed to include content that was instead prohibited for Dispatch. Initially, the studio believed it could also "dare" as CD Projekt did, but Nintendo's ban caught them off guard.

Dispatch's censorship may decrease

Fortunately for owners of the Switch versions, the discussion about censorship does not end here. AdHoc explained that they are in contact with Nintendo to overcome the impasse, so they can restore at least some of the original content. However, the studio specifies that, despite the censorship, the core of the Dispatch experience has remained unchanged.
