Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns - Launch Trailer
A piece of strategy game history is reborn, forty years later
Amiga enthusiasts will undoubtedly remember Cinemaware: in the second half of the 1980s, this American developer created several memorable games, the first of which was called Defender of the Crown. Released in 1986, this strategy and action title put us in the shoes of a Lord intent on conquering 12th-century England: an experience with a remarkable cinematic flair for its time, which not surprisingly became a cult classic.
The New Defender of the Crown
Publisher Nordcurrent Labs and developer Black Tower Basement announce the release of Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns, available today, August 13, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, GOG). This title includes three gaming experiences: first, there's the original Defender of the Crown, intended for purists who feel nostalgic for the Amiga era.
If the original is a bit too dated for your taste, you can opt for a modernized version: the gameplay and game system have been made smoother, while the graphics and interface have been redesigned, all to meet the needs of modern users. Finally, there's a new mode, which deviates from the classic strategic formula to embrace roguelike mechanics.
