CES 2026 and the Event Screens at the Las Vegas Fair
Micro RGB, SQD Mini LED, 4-color MicroLED technologies, and wireless transmission
CES 2026 confirmed that the future of televisions lies in extreme brightness, new backlighting systems, and increasingly radical designs, further pushing the development of screens where light control is even more refined. Four models stole the show and captured attention for their technological ambition and visual impact.
Finally, 100% REC.2020 Coverage!
The TCL X11L was one of the most impressive technically. It combines Micro RGB technology (which increases LED density in the same space) and SQD Mini LED (backlighting with 26-bit control, offering even greater precision in light management), promising up to 100% BT.2020 color space, 20,000 local dimming zones, and a declared peak brightness of 10,000 nits(!). The result is a contrast that can compete with OLEDs, minimizing blooming and halos. An integrated Bang & Olufsen soundbar with Dolby Atmos support completes the picture.
Samsung, on the other hand, opted for pure spectacle with its 130" Micro RGB TV, presented as an engineering concept. Not a product ready for the consumer market, but a demonstration of strength: extremely vivid colors, anti-reflective treatment, and the new Micro RGB AI Engine Pro processor. An anticipation of what we will see in the coming years, hopefully also in economically accessible formats.
On the design front, the LG W6 Wallpaper did not fail to steal the scene. Just 9mm thick, it moves all electronics into a wireless Zero Connect box. It offers a 165 Hz refresh rate, 0.1 ms response time, and full gaming support with G-Sync and FreeSync, in addition to the new A11 AI Gen 3 processor with advanced upscaling and integrated voice assistants.
Last but certainly not least is the intriguing Hisense 163MX, with a 4-color MicroLED display where yellow is added to the traditional RGB. This choice allows for 100% BT.2020 coverage, combined with over 33 million subpixels and an ultra-thin design intended for flush-mount installations.
