Cairn Got Off to a Strong Start: 200,000 Copies in the First Weekend
The indie mountaineering game is winning over its users
The Game Bakers, an independent studio based in Montpellier, can be very proud of its Cairn: this video game, focused on climbing a mountain, is indeed receiving the acclaim of users. A much-appreciated aspect by players is how Cairn interprets climbing, doing it justice with a simulative and very free approach. On Steam, at the time of writing, Cairn boasts 94% positive reviews out of over 4,200 total.
Cairn's Sales
In addition to user reviews, player appreciation also shines through sales. Cairn was released last January 29 and The Game Bakers reports that, after the first weekend, over 200,000 copies have already been sold. The result is noteworthy, especially considering that it is an independent title, moreover focused on a niche theme like mountaineering.
Is this the revival of Kami’s golden age of tourism? We couldn’t be happier to have welcomed 200,000 climbers to the mountain over the weekend.
