The television universe born from Michael Connelly's stories continues to expand. After the conclusion of Bosch: Legacy in 2025, many viewers thought Harry Bosch's journey on the small screen was over. In reality, the detective played by the great Titus Welliver has not yet said goodbye.

Prime Video has confirmed that the character will return in 2026 in the second season of Ballard, a notable spin-off that follows the investigations of Detective Renée Ballard, played by the talented Maggie Q. The series debuted to excellent results, achieving a rare 100% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

From Los Angeles Detective to Private Investigator

Bosch's presence, however, will be limited and carefully calibrated. The character will not become a stable co-protagonist: the idea is to keep the narrative focus on the detective, leaving Bosch, who has long since left the metropolitan police and become a private investigator, a supporting role in key moments of the investigations.

A choice that mirrors what was already seen in the first season. On that occasion, Harry appeared in only three episodes, intervening as a consultant and ally in the most complex narrative transitions and those linked to his previous investigations. According to Welliver himself, the new season should also follow a similar structure, hoping to find in the cast the talented Mimi Rogers, the lawyer Honey "Money" Chandler who became a Prosecutor, Stephen A. Chang as the hacker Maurice 'Mo' Bassi, and perhaps even Jamie Hector, who plays Detective Jerry Edgar and Harry's former colleague.

The television franchise born from Michael Connelly thus continues its evolution, maintaining the link with the historical character but paving the way for new investigative figures. For Prime Video, which since 2014 has built one of the most solid crime sagas in streaming, the future of the series seems far from over.
