Borderlands: Franchise Surpasses 100 Million Copies Sold

The Borderlands series was born in 2009 by American studio Gearbox Software and features 5 main installments, plus several spinoffs. Set in a sci-fi desert landscape, this saga offers a unique mix of cooperative looter-shooter and RPG; its most recent episode, Borderlands 4, was released in September of last year. Gearbox Software, along with publisher 2K, has announced the achievement of a historic milestone.

The Borderlands franchise, as a whole, has surpassed 100 million copies sold. According to data collected by Wikipedia, it ranks approximately 23rd on the list of the most successful video game franchises in history (dominated, unsurprisingly, by Super Mario). To celebrate this prestigious milestone, the Borderlands team has made available 20 Golden Keys, redeemable by November 16th in all main installments of the series.
