Bizarre Baby Steps Is Out Now: Launch Trailer
A "Walking simulator," but in the truest sense
In publisher Devolver Digital's catalog, it's not uncommon to stumble upon niche video games or those with a strong personality, but what we're about to present stands out among them. Created by the trio Gabe Cuzzillo, Maxi Boch, and Bennett Foddy, already authors of titles such as Ape Out and Getting Over It, Baby Steps is a curious physics-based experience where we'll have to accompany the inept protagonist Nate on a trek up the slopes of a boundless mountain.
There's just one small detail: Nate can't walk. The player will be forced to maneuver his legs with a system that is infernal, preparing to fall and crash into every obstacle, with results as comical as they are disastrous. A gameplay formula that might remind you of the infamous QWOP, a browser game that became very popular about fifteen years ago. The reference is not accidental: QWOP was created by Foddy, one of Baby Steps' three authors.
If this bizarre mixture of masochism and ragdoll hilarity tickles your fancy, know that Baby Steps is now available on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam) platforms. The launch trailer should give you a good idea of what you're getting into.
