ARC Raiders - Frozen Trail: What's New in the Big 2.0 Update
The game's most ambitious update ever takes us to a frozen territory
Swedish developer Embark Studios has officially unveiled Frozen Trail, the 2.0 patch for the extraction shooter ARC Raiders. Described as the biggest update the game has ever received, Frozen Trail will be released on October 8th on all ARC Raiders platforms (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, Nvidia GeForce NOW) at no additional cost.
Frozen Trail Content
Frozen Trail will lead players to a new map, Pendola Pass. This is an icy area, characterized by pronounced verticality and numerous internal passages; in this place, players will also be able to explore a massive Emperor that has crashed to the ground. Pendola Pass is a rugged environment, where weather conditions can worsen quickly (Flash Freeze), which will force Raiders to seek shelter, but will also offer opportunities for loot.
Still within Pendola Pass, Raiders will be able to use Ballistic Gondola, a new extraction method that can transport up to three people at a time. In the new patch, the action will not only take place on land but will also expand into the air with Frigate, a large flying vessel that will pose a challenging fight even for the most experienced ARC Raiders players.
Three new enemy types will appear in Frozen Trail: Bully, an aggressive four-legged mechanical beast. Skulker, a fast and opportunistic drone. Hydra, a turret equipped with massive armaments. A significant new feature of the update is the Outposts, which are encampments that Raiders can set up to establish themselves outside of Speranza: this is the first form of hostile territory occupation by players.
The new Weapon Amplification feature will allow weapons to be powered beyond previously achievable limits. Speaking of weapons, Frozen Trail will debut the Stiletto, a light-ammo sniper rifle, and the Bantam, a sawn-off revolver. The appearance of weapons will be customizable using the new Weapon Stencils. Regarding other items, new gadgets will be available to help with climbing, such as grappling hooks and tether cables, as well as a camera for taking photographs.
With Frozen Trail, ARC Raiders will also improve the quest system, to provide better rewards to players, and the skill tree, with new skills and a rework of some existing ones.
