Apex Legends Revolutionizes Ranked Mode: Here's How
Big changes are coming in the next two seasons
Respawn Entertainment has big news planned for Apex Legends' Ranked mode, aiming to make it more rewarding and fair for all participating players. The first changes will be implemented with Season 31, launching in early November, and will be followed by even more significant modifications with Season 32, scheduled for 2027.
Season 31 Updates
To alleviate the game from the burden of dominant metas, Season 31 will introduce Legend Bans in matches with Diamond-level players or higher. Each Ranked participant will be able to vote for a Legend to ban, and then the system will proceed to exclude some. The choice will be made randomly: the most voted Legends will have a higher chance of being excluded, but they will not be automatically eliminated, as this would risk creating a new ban-based meta.
With Season 31, the criteria determining the entry cost for Ranked matches will also be modified. Each lobby will have its specific level, and anyone two or more levels above it will have to pay a higher cost (which should obviously discourage them), while anyone two or more levels below will have to pay a lower cost. Other Season 31 updates will include the removal of Road to Ranked challenges and the introduction of a clearer interface.
Season 32 Updates
In Season 32, ranks will be revised to acknowledge the difference between casual Apex Legends players and more competitive users. Three new categories are being introduced: Iron, Emerald, and Grandmaster. Lower ranks (Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Emerald) will compete in the Open League, with the goal of accessing the league reserved for more skilled players.
This second league is the new Pro-Am, which consists of Diamond, Master (comprising 4 divisions), and the supreme level, Grandmaster. Season 32 will therefore redefine the system by which players are divided, but not only that, as substantial changes are also planned regarding the methods of score attribution and rewards.
