4:LOOP - The new co-op shooter from the author of Left 4 Dead
Are you ready to... fail to save the world?
PlayStation Interactive Entertainment presents 4:LOOP, a cooperative shooter directed by Mike Booth, the author of Left 4 Dead. The development studio is Bad Robot Games, the gaming division of Bad Robot, a US production company founded by J.J. Abrams. In this sci-fi title, Earth has been conquered by aliens, and the few survivors must turn extraterrestrial technologies against their rightful owners to save the planet.
4:LOOP Gameplay
From a gameplay perspective, with the designer of Left 4 Dead involved, as you can imagine, we are looking at a 4-person cooperative tactical shooter. 4:LOOP strongly emphasizes replayability, offering an experience that can be repeated continuously, with an infinite number of equipment combinations. The campaign is divided into acts, culminating in a confrontation with the alien mothership.
These acts will take place in open maps, unlike Left 4 Dead, where environments are linear. 4:LOOP will feature roguelite mechanics: judging by the trailer, players will die quite often, but after each demise, it will be possible to advance their character with new abilities, thus making the entire team stronger. It's no coincidence that the slogan chosen for this video game is "Fail. To save the world."
When and Where 4:LOOP Releases
4:LOOP will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam) platforms. Currently, the game does not yet have a launch window, but on the Steam page, it says "Coming soon," so it is reasonable to assume it will arrive at an unspecified time in 2026. If you are curious and want to try it in advance, you can go to the official website and sign up for the playtests that will take place soon.
